Valentine's 2013 | Cantaloupe, Troika Sky Dining

Saturday, February 09, 2013

Backdated post for my Valentine's day. Haven't been hanging out for quite sometimes, dressed like a doll and spending quality time with my loved ones. Thank god we are those lucky couple who get to see each other very often and spend time together every weekend. So practically Valentine's is every day to us.

Valentine's this year falls on the fifth day of Chinese New Year, if it's a bad thing or what? Chinese New Year to me is just an ordinary holiday day that i could rest more and spend time with my family at home, that's it. Well, I somewhat have to come back early from Penang just to attend my extra class. Hence, i'm able to celebrate my Valentine's with him. Coincident ey?

We wanted to dine at Cantaloupe, Troika Sky Dining as Amce Bar & Coffee at Troika was where we celebrated our first anniversary However, food served that night is strictly on Valentine's Menu and the period of time we could dine is only two hours. So instead we rather make it the next day of Valentine's.

Cantaloupe is located on the 24th floor of Troika service apartment along Jalan Binjai. Kuala Lumpur's latest dining destination has opened at the iconic Norman Foster building, The Troika. Overlooking the KLCC park and the Twin Towers, Cantaloupe's stunning dining room by Melbourne interior designers Hecker Guthrie offers panoramic views of the city's skyline. Chef Christian Bauer presents a menu of beautiful dishes made with invention and integrity.

Upon arrival, the waiter passed me a bouquet of red roses. I was surprised by the roses he bought. Frankly speaking, it was the second time he gave me flowers, the first one was apparently two years back. He can be very sweet guy at times, just that to him, flower is a waste of money, they don't last forever. Oh well. But still, i was so happy when i received it. 21 roses as i'm 21 this year with black feather wrapping around, i shall name it as, black swans roses. Apart from flowers, i got him a pop-up card and a gift from Tiffany. Tiffany & co is not only for girls but for guys too.

When it comes to food, we took one of Valentine's Dinner and some ala carte food from the usual menu. He got beef tenderloin whereas i got lobster as our main course. We then shared the rest of the 5 courses from Valentine's Menu, got to try both best dishes separately. Definitely perfect dinner for seafood lovers.

Amuse Bouche of the night - Sweet popcorn fried cinnamon shrimp

My ala carte appetizer - Chorizo-dusted scallop with caramelized onions, wild seasonal mushrooms, parsley foam & ancho chili oil

His from the V-day Menu - Lobster bisque, flower crouton and Rosemary Incense on a Chartreuse Flamed Plate

His from the V-day Menu - Three tastes of Salmon :
Warm tea Smoked Belly and Salmon Roe | Coriander Smoked Gravlax and dried strawberry chips | Lightly Wood Smoked Salmon Sashimi with Fresh Sea Urchin

His from the V-day Menu - Foie Gras "CANTALOUPE"
Slow Poached Montbazillac Cured Foie Gras Terrine with Melon Jelly and Grilled Walnut Country Bread

His from the V-day Menu - Pink Guava sorbet, chilled Hibiscus Soup

His from the V-day Menu - Grilled Soy Sake Cured Angus Tenderloin, Dried Mushroom Crisps, Japanese Cress and Whiskey Sauce

I'm not a beef person, but i could see awesome from the reddish meat inside. A big yes from him!

My main course - Noisette butter-poached Nova Scotia lobster with globe artichokes, heirloom carrots, New Zealand spinach, crisp-fried beef tendon & green chartreuse emulsion.

Take a look how huge the lobster claw! Yummms

Dessert also the last course from His V-day Menu - Jivara Aerobar, Mascarpone Ice Cream, Passion Fruit Curd, Anise Soil and Cinnamon Air

Champagne toast from complimentary Louis Roederer

Took a short walk while doing some chit chatting at the open balcony facing KLCC view.

I guess we made the right decision for not dining on Valentine's day, if so we won't be tasting few more other course from ala carte menu. Despite from the price slightly higher than usual fine dining, dining here is a nice experience with a fabulous view. Thank you for the wonderful Valentine's Dinner baby. Looking forward to more valentine's for the coming years.
