Oh dear it's October now, an annual beer party is happening in every October. Well, have you guys heard about Malaysia’s Own Oktoberfest? Let me tell you about the history of Oktoberfest before proceed to my happening beerfest. :)

Oktoberfest is also known as Wiesn and it goes on for 16-18 days annually in Munich. It’s a festival every German wouldn’t miss out on. Based on statistics, more than 5 million people attend this festival each year! So how did this festival started? A wedding celebration. Yes, a wedding. The wedding of Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Theresa of Bavaria on the 8th day of October back in the year 1810. The very first Oktoberfest. Held in a huge field known as “Wies’n” by the locals. Also known as “Theresa’s meadow”. Since then, it has been an annual event where you feast like there’s no tomorrow for 2 weeks starting late September each year. So here we are, this is Malaysia's Own Oktoberfest.

So this year, Malaysia’s Own Oktoberfest 2012 is presented by Carlsberg Malaysia to enable consumers to experience first-hand the authentic German beer drinking festival locally, which runs from
September 26 to October 7, at 18 key market squares throughout the city cities in Peninsular, and
for the first time extending to East Malaysia.

So yeah, My first Malaysia’s Own Oktoberfest this year with MHB

I was busy for the first few weeks when Oktoberfest started, thus i was only able to catch the last Oktoberfest in One Utama.

So last weekend, i attended Oktoberfest that was held at One Utama old wing open carpark. It was also the last as well as the biggest party for Malaysia’s Own Oktoberfest. I was quite surprised with the venue of the event(Open carpark?), but till i visited the place, i went like Woahhh! It was huge and the crowd was mad with large turnout of consumers.

Highlight of the party then goes to those entertaining part. First all the happy drinkers enjoying themself with tons of beers while Authentic Umpapa band from Germany performing for that night. Everyone was dancing the traditional chicken dance with the great music, like a mini carnival were held over there. Several beers are available on Malaysia’s Own Oktoberfest such as,
  • Carlsberg (5% ABV/ alcohol), a lager beer founded by J.C. Jacobsen in 1847 and is an international beer originating from Denmark.
  • Erdinger Weissbier (5.3% ABV), pioneered in the 70′s, was the first German wheat to be distributed nationwide in Germany. Erdinger is brewed according to traditional recipes and has no preservatives, additives and pasteurization, complying with the Bavarian Purity Law 1516.
  • Franziskaner Weissbier (5% ABV), a traditional Bavarian wheat beer with more than 600 years of history, is refreshing and aromatic in character. This Bavarian beer is naturally cloudy and copper-coloured and enhanced with a sweet malt taste with a smooth creamy texture for finish.
  • Lowenbrau (5.2% ABV), an original “German Munich Beer”, is famous at Oktoberfests. It is a lager beer that is refreshing with a taste of malt and mild hop bitterness. The beer is light to the taste, bright golden yellow in colour, and truly complements the Bavarian drinking experience.

A special promotion to commemorate the event has also been launched where consumers can take home a limited edition Oktoberfest beer stein when they take part the promotion at participating outlets.

Happened to chit chat with Elizabthe Lin, a girl i met on the beerfest. So surprised that she could recognised me, as she's one of my Instagram Followers. Awww Flattered much. :p

So i asked her what does she think about “Malaysia’s Own Oktoberfest”, she said she went to Oktoberfest every year. So this time wasn't her first time, in fact it was her second for this year, and she loves it so much. Mmmm meeting more and more beer lover here. Anyway not forgetting, Enjoy Responsibly!

Last before i ending this post, i would like to share some of the Oktoberfest parties around Malaysia.
