Dessert time at Thirty8, Grand Hyatt KL

Tuesday, September 04, 2012

Oh dear September i have been waiting for this very month to come, looking forward to every upcoming events, from holiday, travel, big bang concert, fashion events, advertorial and etc... indeed a favorite month to be.

However things always happened when you least expected, yesterday was the  beginning of September. Woke up pretty early for my morning class, drove my sister to work as well. But god who knows, i got into a massive accident yesterday morning! Thank god no injuries happened to me and my sis! (Must be prayers keep us safe, i'm kinda superstitious at times, lol ) As for my little whitey, the poor thing has officially sent into the workshop for god who knows how long does it takes! Sigh NO CAR AT THE MOMENT! Will be sharing one car with my two sisters! Friends, please drive me around ok? Hehe

Anyway many thanks to those who concerned as well, much appreciate! Oh yah, i must highlight this part of my accident. Seriously for the first time in my life, i find Malaysia Cops helpful! After the accident, when i was on the way driving to the police station, it died half way in the middle of the road. All the reckless driver kept horned at my car(Just like those Typical Malaysian Drivers), barked at us like crazy dogs, as though i stopped it for nothing! Hello I did switched on my double signal, You selfish piece of shitty drivers! Then then then, these very kind Police traffic came to us and gave us a hand, by manually pushed our car to the side of the road, so that it wont messed up the entire traffic! They helped us a lot! Billion Thanks to them seriously!

Alright, enough of my grandmother story and expressing my grudges, time to forget about my Monday Blues. Pray for a better month ahead! Let's have some new exploration in town!

Last week during the national day, i decided to bring le boyf out. He was kinda lazy when it comes to public holiday, because that will be the only time he get to sleep past noon besides from every weekends. I can truly understand sleep is never enough to him. So a very good girlfriend like me, offered him an afternoon tea instead. Hehe

Came across from some food blog, noticed that Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur has finally open for business. Grand Hyatt is one of the well known five-star hotel in the world, located on Jalan Pinang next to the Twin Towers and the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. Happened to dine in Mezza 9(here), Grand Hyatt Singapore back to many years ago. According to the worker, Grand Hyatt KL was owned by Brunei King and recently opened for public business less than a week time. Grand launch of this hotel is not even done yet! How lucky we manage to get the first glimpse of this exclusive hotel before it started to catch everyone's eyes! So yeah i'm now doing one of the few first hand blog review about it!

P/s: Sorry for low photo quality. My Sony Camera decided to die on me that day!! (As i forgot to charge my camera the day before.) Well, i shall replace them with those i took from my iphone.

This amazing staircase was really long, I named it as my 'Stairway to Heaven'! With the lights, shining underneath each and every stairs, don't you feel like you're walking on the stairs connect to heaven like one of Thor's scene. Lol

One thing impressed me about this hotel was their sky-lobby located on the top floor. The hotel do has a small reception once guests enter the hotel, then their friendly crew will direct them to the sky-lobby where Thirty8 restaurant located at as well. Because of that there were four elevators to shuttle guests directly to the top floor. With this concept that provides privacy, security and a sense of arrival, according to the news

The first thing caught my eyes when i first arrived at the sky lobby, This place has a wonderful panoramic 360 degree overlooking Kuala Lumpur City Centre, such a breathtaking view.

Thirty8, located on the top floor of the hotel, consists of a restaurant, a wine bar and a lounge. THIRTY8 creates a lively and interactive space where guests can wine and dine among the vibrant show kitchens while enjoying stunning views of the iconic Petronas Twin Towers and the city. The restaurant offers a selection of steaks, Chinese seafood, sushi and sashimi. THIRTY8 serves breakfast, lunch, high tea and dinner.

Latte with Chocolate Walnut Cookies, A perfect combo for coffee lover!
Do try out their cookies. It tastes really soft yet crunchy with the walnut in the middle.

Our initial plan was looking for some sweet bites, but we somehow thought that light bites will be served apart from desserts. However the kitchen was closed down during that time. Die die have to stick with desserts. (Good for me but someone don't get to eat his favorite Wedges. Huhu)

Thirty8 serves varieties of desserts but sadly no afternoon tea. All of them come into reasonable price for hotel rate, price range starts from 18 - 25, exclude the special Cheese part. So yeah, i hereby attached one of the desserts' menu on my blog for ya reference which i hardly do(because that's for you to find out yourself!)

We ordered two desserts, THIRTY8 Signature cake and Straight from the oven chocolate cake, with raspberry sorbet and vanilla anglaise.

THIRTY8 Signature cake first served in a glass food dome, covering the cake and ice cream where you can barely see it's served as it's been fogged up by dry ice. Then the waitress will removed it right in front of you and poured some caramel on top of the cake. Such an eye candy watching all these happened.

Next, will be Straight from the oven chocolate cake. The outlook was pretty simple until you break it and discovered all the chocolate lava flowing out. Served with Vanilla anglaise, Such an orgasmic!

  1. Terrible service at The Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur. I decided to go and experience their afternoon tea and was disappointed when half their menu contained peanuts or some other sort of nut. I had stated during the reservation that I have a nut allergy and was assured it would be taken care of.

Long story short, the manager didn't accommodate my allergies and suggested I order from the "a la carte" menu (paying for whatever I order of course). He kept arguing that I order from a different menu when I wanted to experience their afternoon tea.

The whole point was to go there for afternoon tea. If I wanted to order from their a la carte menu, I could've went anywhere else to have a late lunch.

I was so frustrated from arguing with this stupid manager, I left and ate elsewhere where I was happy and satisfied with the food and service.

Also, the whole point of afternoon tea or high tea is to drink tea. There was not an extensive tea menu at The Grand Hyatt, probably 7 at most..

Don't waste your time or money on this garbage place.

  2. hi JC, I have been there a few times, unfortunately you could have very easily ordered from the menu. However, I think you were just being difficult thinking you own the hotel or are at least of some status there. Trust me when I say this, rich people don't usually behave this way, its usually people below or half way there who do.

Grand Hyatt to me, is known as a world renowned class hotel and has never failed to disappoint me wherever in the world and I highly recommend them to everyone who can truly appreciate and afford them with a humble heart.
